What is the real reason behind self sabotage?

The industry of coaching, business, and events is changing. People are shifting. We are tolerating less from the industry.

Conscious business is expanding and this means that integrity is everything. And so is accountability.

You can’t create results for your clients. You just can’t.

What you CAN do is deliver everything you said you would deliver. You can support, guide, coach and lead.

But your client is the one who has to pick up their feet and move them toward the direction of their goals.

They have to take the action. They have to ask for what they need if they aren’t getting it. You have to hold the space, deliver value and continue to work on your own success so it flows to your clients.

If you aren’t actively working on your life, it’s really hard to empower your clients to do it.

Here is the truth, some people will succeed. And some people will quit.

I recently had a client who wanted to quit.

I had a day a couple of weeks ago where quitting seemed a lot easier than pressing through big life changes occurring while my next business evolution was being birthed. There were some hard labor pains to birth that baby. 🙂

All of this really got me asking some questions about “Why do people quit?”

And you know what this REALLY means right?

Why do I quit? Why do you quit?

It’s divine timing that I’m currently reading “The Big Leap” by Gay Hendricks. I have a colleague who makes this book required reading for her clients before they start working together. And now I know why.

Have you ever noticed why when things are going well and then we do something to sabotage it?

Or something “out of the blue” happens to bring us down from our high. We say yes to a program or to a vacation and the car breaks down, or a family member gets sick.

It happened to me last week. After spending a week in a high vibration of abundance, possibilities and growth with my mastermind and mentor in California, I came home and things were going great. I was putting all of the inspiration into plans and I was taking action.

I was on a huge high and was really excited for the big leaps I was making in my business and life.

I came home to the realization that this is the year to move from our current home because the vibration is no longer a match for where I want to go in my life. This was the first opportunity I had to create self doubt and it crept in as this thought “Can I do all of this in my business AND move?”

Then I got scared with the big leaps I was taking. There were a few more moments of self doubt.

Instead of meditating, or reaching out to my support team, I picked a fight with my husband. And we aren’t fighters so this was a big one for me.

Honestly I was acting like a brat. How’s that for enlightenment?

How long can I really feel good? How long can things really go right? I got uncomfortable with all of the forward movement so I unconsciously decided to put on the breaks.

Crap. Seriously? This again?

Why do we do this? THIS is the real stuff in business that gets in the way.

Newslfash: this does not mean you have to go from healer to healer to “fix” your broken self and beliefs.

The fact of the matter is you are whole right now. The BS (Belief Systems) on top of the true you can feel heavy and very real.

Gay Hendricks says there are four barriers that people have that tie into why you want to shrink back, pick a fight with your spouse, play small or even quit.

1. Feeling Fundamentally Flawed

“I cannot expand to my full creative genius because something is fundamentally wrong with me.”

2. Disloyalty and Abandonment

“I cannot expand to my full success because it would cause me to end up all alone, be disloyal to my roots, and leave behind people from my past.”

3. Believing That More Success Brings a Bigger Burden

“I can’t expand to my highest potential because I’d be an even bigger burden than I am now.”

4. The Crime of Outshining

“I must not expand to my full success, because if I did I would outshine ________________ and make him or her feel bad.”

I bet you can relate to at least one of these, if not all of them on some level.

Just being aware of this is huge. Taking action even when this is active for you in your life will create results and you will stop sabotaging yourself.

A lot of heart-based entrepreneurs think that mindset alone will help them get over these fixed beliefs. You will spend a lot of years fixing yourself without a whole lot changing if you don’t take action along with the mindset work.

Learning this information and seeing how I was being held back in my own business I got inspired to give a free training on this and how to unwind these barriers from your profits in your biz.

Soul Vision Exercise Week #10:Identify a goal you currently have in your business. Pick one of these things (or choose your own) and do one thing every day this week to work toward that goal

1. Call (first preference) or email someone and invite them to do a strategy session with you.

2. Delegate stuff that isn’t making you money to a VA. If you don’t have one, hire one. Then focus on an action that could bring in money.

3. Attend at least one networking group and follow up with 3-5 people you met within 24 hours after the meeting.

4. Reach out to someone who could be a JV or affiliate.

5. Schedule a webinar or teleclass to happen within the next two weeks and start marketing it today.

6. Reach out to a past client and see how you can help them further their progress.
